Children experience an educational farmyard

The farmyard's mobile show involves small and large farm animals which the children can spend time with.

The Mobile Educational Farmyard visited the Linmeyer Daycare Centre on May 24.

The farmyard’s mobile show involves small and large farm animals which the children can spend time with.

A highlight of the show was when learners could touch the animals and feed them, which provided a hands-on experience for the little ones. Children also brought their own fruit and vegetables to give to the animals as an extra treat.

Little ones had the opportunity to feel what a sheep’s wool feels like.

The educational farmyard also allowed each learner to ride on their resident pony.

The Linmeyer Daycare Centre strives to provide hands-on learning and experiences that will last throughout their learners’ lives.

According to school principal Poppie Ndefi, learners showed a keen interest in animals and compassion towards them.

“The Mobile Educational Farmyard visiting the LDC is an example of how the daycare centre provides learning opportunities that provide a hands-on experience and allow students to have experiences with animals they learn about. The learners can understand the distinctiveness of each animal, which helps to develop their motor skills and real-world understanding,” she said.

The opportunity to interact with farm animals was a great experience for the little ones.
