Foundation aims to support people to achieve their potential

Psycho-social recovery centre remains a place of hope and recovery.

The Talisman Foundation in the Hill hosted an open day to highlight its good work and allow families and residents to interact.

A key aspect of the day was to thank the staff work and show gratitude to the stakeholders who supported the foundation.

The Talisman Foundation began as a shelter in Parktown and now celebrates 45 years of helping people through addiction and mental illness.

Val Cook, general manager of Talisman, spoke about the hard work of the care workers.

“I extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff. I also want to thank our stakeholders for their support,” said Cook.

Jackie Tau, chairperson of Talisman, praised how the foundation’s work has impacted the patients and residents.

“The aim is to rehabilitate and allow residents to have a normal life after treatment. The staff, stakeholders and management run a place of hope and new beginnings for those in need,” said Tau.

“I also want to thank the Department of Health and The Department of Social Development for their support,” he continued.
