Moffat View SAPS bid farewell to its stalwarts

The duo served Moffat View Police Station with dignity and pride.

Moffat View SAPS thanked Warrant Officer Tom Meyer and Captain Joseph Makhubela for their unwavering dedication to public safety at their farewell ceremony on December 6.

They were appreciated for their 33 and 26 years of service respectively. They both spent 12 years at Moffat View Police Station.

It was such a cheerful day as the hall was filled to capacity by councillors, CPF members, pastors, and SAPS members to bid farewell to the duo who have served in Moffat View SAPS for a long time.

Meyer could not hold his tears as he recalled when he served the community of Hillbrow and also when on a task team where he was assigned to Cape Town by the then national commissioner. He also mentioned that he would avail himself in assisting police in times of need.

Makhubela attested to what he had said and also recalled how they established the Crime Prevention Unit in the area of Rosettenville. He said crime was rife and they worked as a team to try and combat it.

He also emphasized the importance of working with communities which led to more arrests and sometimes convictions of up to 15 years.

Makhubela shared words of wisdom to those who are still working for SAPS that they need to be dedicated, serve, be loyal when protecting society and should also be disciplined not to take bribes.

Station commander Colonel Shunny Govender echoed the good work that the two members have done for their loyalty, discipline, love, and sacrifice.

He mentioned his concern to those who take bribes to make quick money, and he made it clear to the members that having followed what he has mentioned and be focused in their line of duty money follows the good work as the person of value, not bribery.
