Pikitup urges residents not to give Christmas gifts to employees
Not giving Pikitup’s employees Christmas gifts is in line with the company’s policy.
Pikitup is appealing to residents to refrain from offering Christmas gifts to its employees.
This request aligns with company policy, which strictly prohibits employees from soliciting or accepting gifts from the public.
The policy aims to protect residents and uphold Pikitup’s reputation, particularly in light of past incidents where individuals impersonating employees exploited the festive season to commit criminal acts.
Such impersonations have led to fraudulent activities, compromising community safety.
In addition, Pikitup has received complaints from residents alleging that some employees have engaged in intimidating behaviour, coercing residents into providing gifts during this period.
These actions are unacceptable and do not reflect Pikitup’s values or service standards.
Spokesperson Muzi Mkhwanazi said the company remains committed to fostering a safe and professional relationship between its employees and the communities it serves.
“Pikitup encourages residents to report any incidents of intimidation, harassment, or suspicious behaviour to the company’s call centre at 010 055 5990 or 087 357 1068.
“Furthermore, Pikitup is appealing to residents who will be generating excess waste during the festive holiday season to use its integrated waste facilities to dispose of the additional waste. The addresses of these facilities and the acceptable character of waste and quantities on these sites are available on the companies’ websites.
“Pikitup thanks the public for its understanding and cooperation in ensuring a safe and respectful festive season for all,” he said.
