Eskom Rotek takes calculated move

The donation will significantly benefit learners in their mathematical studies.

To uplift education in the region, Eskom Rotek Industries donated 500 scientific calculators to The Hill High School on January 21.

This contribution is part of their corporate social investment (CSI) initiative to improve mathematics education in SA public schools.

Dorah Thetele, the head of the life orientation department at The Hill High School, spearheaded the sponsorship. This initiative is especially significant because it addresses the educational needs of learners facing societal challenges who cannot afford these essential tools, which cost over R400 each.

The donation will help many who struggle with maths, giving them the resources to enhance their learning experience. The school thanked Eskom Rotek Industries for the donation.

Acting general manager Bhutana Mhlanga and Nontuthuko Mchunu, the head of CSI donations at Rotek Industries, also received thanks. Besides their donation, they motivated the learners by sharing potential careers in Eskom and mathematics.

Teachers at The Hill High School welcome the donation: Bonolo Mashoi, Hadrian Smith, Lukholo Raxangane, Dorah Thetele, Bhutana Mhlanga, Ntethelelo Madubaduba, Thabisa Joka and Nontuthuko Mchunu.

Thetele and Ntethelelo Madubaduba, the teacher liaison officer at the school, thanked Eskom for its support. They emphasised how this donation would benefit learners and hope for a long-term partnership with Eskom Rotek Industries.

As the school community celebrates this donation, its focus remains on ensuring every learner can succeed in their educational pursuits. Eskom Rotek Industries’ commitment to enhancing education in SA is a step towards building a brighter future for countless learners.
