Waterstone College matric class of 2024 surpass National IEB benchmark

Waterstone College was the top-performing Curro school in physical sciences in 2024, with Grade 12 students achieving an average close to 70%, exceeding the National IEB average.

Waterstone College proudly emerged as the top-performing school in physical sciences among all Curro schools nationwide in 2024.

The Grade 12 learners achieved an exceptional average close to 70%, surpassing the National IEB benchmark and showcasing their dedication to academic excellence.

A culture of passion and hard work

According to Roxanne Nel, school marketer of Waterstone College, the students’ success stemmed from their perseverance, motivation, and commitment to excellence.

“The science class radiated positive energy and enthusiasm, enabling the learners to believe in themselves and learn effectively. The science laboratory became their happy place,” said Nel.

From Grade 11, learners received detailed notes, practice exercises, and past exam papers.

Practical work played a crucial role in developing their scientific skills, while afternoon and Saturday workshops ensured thorough syllabus coverage.

Struggling students received extra support, and higher-order thinking was emphasized for top achievers.

“The science department consists of an exceptional team of educators who are passionate, dedicated, and professional,” Nel added.

Guided by Albert Einstein’s words, “The only way to true human greatness is through the school of hard knocks,” the 2024 physical sciences class embraced resilience and excellence, proving that hard work leads to success.
