Linmeyer in the dark: Electricity problems continue
Residents are fed up with poor service delivery.
The Linmeyer community is facing ongoing electricity issues, with frequent power outages and constant maintenance on the electrical supply system becoming the norm.
At the heart of the problem is outdated infrastructure that can no longer support the area’s growing population. The local power stations are under-equipped and poorly maintained, placing additional strain on an already overburdened system.
Residents are feeling the impact, paying rates and taxes while receiving substandard service delivery in return. Frustration is mounting as the lack of investment in infrastructure continues to disrupt daily life and hurt local businesses.
“It’s unacceptable that we’re paying our rates and taxes, yet we’re not receiving the basic services we deserve,” said Linmeyer resident Paul Skeepers. “The electricity crisis is just the tip of the iceberg. We need our leaders to take action and address these systemic issues.”
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena acknowledged the challenges in the south of Johannesburg.
“The electricity supply system in Joburg South is under extreme strain. Plans to upgrade the system have already begun. In the meantime, our technicians are addressing the issues as they arise. We ask that residents bear with us as we work to resolve the infrastructure problems,” said Mangena.
The Linmeyer electricity crisis is a pressing concern that demands immediate attention from local authorities. The community is calling for improved service delivery and a reliable power supply. It’s time for change.
