Marist Brothers Linmeyer honoured by University of Pretoria

Thanks to dedicated teachers and hardworking learners, the school is praised for its impressive university enrolment rates.

Marist Brothers Linmeyer has proudly received a certificate of recognition from the University of Pretoria (UP).

This award celebrates the school as one of the top contributors in terms of the number of learners enrolling at the university.

The certificate highlights the hard work of the teachers, the determination of the learners, and the strong support from their families. It shows how the school’s Marist values continue to inspire everyone to aim for excellence.

High school principal, Lara Ann Koch, said: “We are truly proud to receive this recognition from the University of Pretoria. It reflects the dedication of our teachers and the hard work of our learners. Together with the support of our families, we strive to give our young people the best education possible. This achievement encourages us to keep improving and preparing our learners for success.”

The award was given because many Marist Brothers Linmeyer graduates have been accepted to study at the University of Pretoria. This is thanks to their excellent matric results and strong applications for courses of their choice.

The school’s rigorous academic programme plays a big role in this success. Learners take mid-year exams in July, attend a two-week Winter School during the August holidays, then write prelim exams in September before finally sitting their end-of-year finals. This careful preparation gives learners the best chance to succeed.

The school is committed to adapting its teaching methods to meet the needs of modern learners. “Our teachers will continue to apply to mark the National Senior Certificate examinations for the Independent Examinations Board (IEB),” said Koch.

“We have many of our Grade 12 teachers who are chosen to mark these examinations at the end of each year, and some of our teachers are even appointed as senior markers.” This experience helps teachers understand exam standards and improve how they teach and assess learners.

Marist Brothers Linmeyer is proud of this recognition and will continue working hard to help students reach their full potential.
