Glenvista High School hosts ceremony to honour the class of 2022

Nabeel Mahomed was awarded the most certificates leaving with 14 certificates on the night.

The Glenvista High school held a valedictory ceremony to honour and celebrate the matriculants of 2022 for their achievements on January 24.

Awards were also handed to the top learners for their various subjects. Nabeel Mahomed received 14 certificates. This is after he obtained eight distinctions (including adMaths).

According to the school principal Thoblie Morgan, the school is proud of the 2022 matric group who achieved 126 distinctions.

“This ceremony recognises the young talents who made an immense contribution to our school and the community.”

Other learners who excelled in terms of distinctions were Liam de Saldanha (seven), Daveen Marimuthu and Caroline Nkoane (six each), Ashton Growth, Nomonde Booi and Amanda Huo (five each), Nkateko Khoza, Shanil Nana and Zamokuhle Nhlangothi (three each).

“These brilliant learners exhibit qualities that will help them in achieving their goals,” said Morgan.

Glevista Linguistic Award (for the best matric learner in two out of the three languages offered at the school): Nabeel Mahomed.

The Umbono Fund Managers’ Award (for the best matric learner in two of the three subjects accounting, business studies and economics): Daveena Marimuthu.

The Consumer Studies Award (for the top consumer studies learner): Seanne Naidoo.

The Design School of Southern Africa Award (awarded to the top visual art learner, excelled in painting and drawing, showing innovative thinking and creativity as well as original compositions): Nomonde Booi.

The Grant Computer Science Award (for the top information technology learner): Nabeel Mahomed.

The Mech Award for Scientific Excellence (for the best matric learner in two of the three subjects mathematics, physical science and life sciences): Nabeel Mahomed.

The Top Mathematics Achiever Award (for the top mathematics learner): Nabeel Mahomed.

The Physical Science Award (for the top physical science learner): Nabeel Mahomed.

Dux scholar (awarded to the learner with the highest overall average in their grade, with 91.9% in his final matric examination): Nabeel Mahomed.
