Iconic stadium becomes all-rounder

SuperSport Park can be utilised to create a national outdoor sports brand.

SUPERSPORT Park will become a multipurpose stadium and some of the other sporting codes will utilise the facilities available.

Momentum Outdoor, a new concept aimed at accommodating other amateur sports at SuperSport Park, was announced on Wednesday, October 26. Financial services company Momentum has come on board in support of the concept and as naming sponsor.

The first event of the newly established Momentum Outdoor will be the Festival of Running on April 7 and 8 at SuperSport Park. The event will include a corporate and celebrity race, a family fun run, a super-mom walk and an endurance race.

The celebrity race will see well-known sports stars team up with actors or TV celebrities on the Friday between 14:30 and 15:00. From 09:00 on the Saturday, there will be an endurance run in which teams of four will challenge one another in a sporting extravaganza set to ignite SuperSport Park and really seize the imagination of families, friends and spectators.

“We believe SuperSport Park is an ideal venue to provide the serious outdoor sports amateur with a unique, unmatchable experience,” said Jacques Faul, chief executive officer of the Multiply Titans.

The stadium also boasts training facilities, secure children’s play area and ample parking.

“The Momentum Outdoor concept and the safe environment of the iconic SuperSport Park can be utilised to create a national outdoor sports brand within the next five years,” said Pierre Joubert, commercial manager of the Multiply Titans.
