South Africans can be seen in Anglo-Welsh Cup

Anglo-Welsh Cup is back for all rugby fans to enjoy on StarSat.

IT’s all good news for the rugby fans who support the annual Anglo-Welsh Cup. This tournament between the English and Welsh sides will be back on screen, available live and exclusive to StarSat from November 4 to March 18, 2017.

The 2015/2016 tournament between the English and Welsh sides was halted due to the Rugby World Cup taking place this time last year, but will now continue on the sports calendar for the next three seasons.

The competition kicks off when champions Saracens, who boast a large South African contingent, take on Gloucester.

Saracens will be represented by none other than legendary loose forward Schalk Burger. The former IRB Player of the Year will have familiar faces around him, such as fellow Springbok Schalk Brits and veteran scrumhalf Neil de Kock, as his teammates.

Will the South Africans help the club to successfully defend its title?

Burger and company are not the only men from the Rainbow Nation in the tournament. The likes of Sarel Pretorius (Newport Gwent Dragons), Brian Mujati (Sale Sharks), Dewald Potgieter (Worcester) and JP Pietersen (Leicester) will all be playing in the same competition.

Some of these South Africans have won the World Cup and a host of other honours at both international and provincial level.

The tournament will be played throughout November and it will continue to March 18, 2017.
