THE ninth edition of FOX Sports Africa Boxing will take place on September 21.
This showpiece will take place at Meropa and will start at 7pm.
The bill will feature boxers from South Africa, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Ghana.
Local Limpopo favourite, Rofhiwa Maemu, who is no stranger to the Africa Boxing ring, will defend his WBA Pan African featherweight title in front of his home supporters against fellow South African Tello Lithebe, the current WBA Pan African super middleweight champion.
Patrick Mukala of the DRC will defend his title against Ghanaian, Emmanuel Anim who is making his FOX Africa Boxing debut.
Kyle de Klerk, director of commercial and business, FOX Sports Africa said, “We are back with the ninth edition of Africa Boxing and ready to bring the best boxers to the ring at Meropa Casino. We are particularly excited to see Rofhiwa Maemu fight in his home province of Limpopo, with his local supporters sure to encourage “War Child” to bring his all and defend his title.
“With all the fights sanctioned by the World Boxing Association, WBA, FOX Sports Africa is working closely with local boxing associations to broadcast exclusive high-quality products to its millions of local viewers. We are excited to take boxing to our viewers around the country and we have two more boxing bonanza events planned for 2018 with further exciting events in place for 2019.”
FOX Sports Africa, working closely with the WBA, aims to promote African boxers on an international platform.
The bill will feature:
International welterweight contest over four rounds, Tankiso Qelo vs Kagiso Bagwasi.
International featherweight over four rounds, Riro the Randima vs Tsepang Babui.
WBA Pan African super middleweight over 12 rounds, Patrick vs Emmanuel Anim.
International junior lightweight over six rounds, Paul Mangxilana from the South vs Kutlwano Ogaketse.
International lightweight over six rounds, Raymond Kupula vs Steven Bagwasi.
WBA Pan African featherweight title fight over 12 rounds Rofhiwa Maemu, champion vs Tello Lithebe.
