Union Rugby Club win against Ditau and Khoza

Both sides from Union Rugby Club saw the results go their way in tough matches.

Union Rugby Club played games against Ditau and Khoza on July 30 at Klipriviersberg Recreational Centre as part of the Memorial Cup and Shield.

The Union U20 side faced Khoza from Krugersdorp in their match.

It was a game that saw controversy on both sides as it was a tight game where both gave their all.

Union was first to score a try. This was after bad defence and lack of communication on the Khoza side which meant the ball to be passed over the line. Union dived over the line making the score 7-0.

A few moments later Khoza hit back with a great try under the sticks, levelling the scores.

Both teams gave their everything with each team’s defence not taking back an inch.

After constant pressure, a penalty from Khoza gave Union their second try of the match, making the score 14-7.
The plan was for the last few minutes to keep the ball and keep Khoza away from the try line.

Union defence held and a few minutes later the ball was bundled over the line. With that, the ref signalled the end of the match.

The fans stood behind their team every step of the way.

The next match was Union’s first XV against Ditau Rugby Club.

Union ran with the ball the whole first half, with four tries being scored leaving the host with a 24-0 lead at halftime.

Despite Ditau running in three tries after the break, it was not enough to upset the team from the South with Union winning 36-19.
