Bowlers celebrate Pink Day

At Herbert Park, it was all about fun and enjoying bowling while raising breast cancer awareness.

The Herbert Park Bowling Club, located Turf Club Street in Turffontein, hosted a Pink Day to bring awareness to breast cancer.

Pink was the colour of the day, with men, women and children wearing pink.


Bowlers came out to support the Herbert Park Bowling Club’s Pink Day.

According to the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa), approximately 19.4 million women aged 15 years and older live at risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer – the cancer affecting women in South Africa the most.

In 2013, deaths from breast cancer and cancers of the female genital tract, accounted for 0.7% and 1% of all deaths in South Africa respectively.


Clouds gathering did not deter these bowlers at Herbert Park.

At Herbert Park, it was all about fun and enjoying bowling while raising breast cancer awareness.

Some bowlers were awarded for playing well and their participation in the awareness campaign.
