Bulls crush Cardiff 45–21 to claim second spot in URC

Pretoria side storms to second on the log after dominant first half and six-try showcase

The Vodacom Bulls delivered a dominant first-half performance at Loftus Versfeld on May 11, crushing Cardiff 45-21 in a United Rugby Championship (URC) clash that saw them leapfrog defending champs Glasgow Warriors into second spot on the log.

Johan Goosen kicked off the scoring early, followed by first-half tries from Harold Vorster, Wilco Louw, Canan Moodie, and Cameron Hanekom, giving the Pretoria side a solid 31-0 lead by halftime.

Sebastian de Klerk added two more tries in the second half, with Keagan Johannes slotting the extras after Goosen left the field injured. Despite a late surge from Cardiff, who scored three converted tries, the Bulls’ early momentum proved enough to seal the bonus-point win.

Jake White’s men will be happy with their set pieces and backline attack, but their second-half defence will need tightening ahead of a home quarter-final — and potentially a home semi-final — in the coming weeks.
