Meyersdal runners to honour Lisa Alves with early morning #BeSafeBeSeen run

Residents are invited to join the tribute run as the community prepares for a chilly Friday morning.

This Friday, June 27, runners and residents will meet at Plato Coffee in Meyersdal’s Blue Crane Centre for a special #BeSafeBeSeen run in memory of Lisa Alves, who tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run on May 10 while running with friends.

The event is being launched by the Plato Plass Toe (PPT) running community, who are hosting the event and leading the run.

To raise awareness about runner safety and visibility, organisers will hand out VIZI Belts, kindly sponsored by Jonsson Workwear, and encourage everyone to wear high-visibility gear.

Combination will also be there, offering morning specials, giveaways, and, of course, PLATO coffee to help keep everyone warm and energised.

Runners and supporters are asked to meet from 04:40, with the run starting shortly after.

Gauteng Weather has predicted a cold front for Friday, with temperatures between -2°C and 11°C, so attendees are advised to dress warmly.

Organisers have asked the Gazette and community groups to share the event on Facebook to help spread the word and get more people involved.

Join the community as they remember Lisa Alves and promote road safety for runners.
