Cheetah Experience: Where our hearts beat faster for our natural heritage

Many of South Africa’s wildlife is in danger of extinction if we do not intervene, thus making it crucial for humans to understand more about these priceless animals. By safeguarding endangered species in supervised enclosed compounds, we ensure their continued existence for many years to come.
Die Pos had the privilege to visit one of these conservational gems, ZA Cheetah Conservation / Cheetah Experience, on the outskirts of Bela-Bela on the R101. This is a sanctuary where the well-being of the big cats is a priority. Not only are the staff dedicated to their special dietary needs but also to provide a natural habitat for each one in their respective enclosures. We even experienced the transfer and relocation of a male hyena (see video below).
This non-profit organization is home to several endangered and threatened species, such as cheetahs, leopards, male non-breeding lions, caracals, servals, wildcats, and hyenas. They also host foreign species, such as a pair of Canadian wolves and a Siberian tiger.

Visit them

Have you always wanted to see some amazing big cat species up close? Then come on a guided tour with ZA Cheetah Conservation / Cheetah Experience and be enlightened by amazing facts about these big cats. Visit them for a truly unique South African Experience. The sanctuary is in beautiful natural surroundings in the Waterberg and is the residence of many other species of small buck, giraffes, and beautiful birds. The vegetation in the Waterberg is spectacular and this farm has diverse species of Bushveld trees and plants.

Please donate

Make a difference in the lives of these animals. Donations are very welcome. Fresh carcasses (antibiotic-free) will be collected if and when needed. They can use chicken, beef, goat, or venison meat. They have their butchery department to take care of donated meat. Please: to prevent illness, no decomposed meat will be accepted.
