The Incorruptible Seed Ethiopian International Church has committed to distribute food parcels to 200 needy families in the township in Bela-Bela on Saturday 14 July.
The church planned to distribute the food parcels in partnership with the local Pastor Tsholo Modise’s Go Forward Ministry.
The event was planned to start with an outdoor church service.
Incorruptible Seed Ethiopian International Church leader, the Evangelist Meseretatiki Addise, said the event was a way of ploughing back into the community, in appreciation of the locals’ support towards some of the stores owned by foreign nationals.
He said the charity drive was in line with the Christian doctrine of giving to those less fortunate.
“We want to help the needy and also to spread the gospel,” he said.
Addise said the office of Bela-Bela Mayor Jeremiah Ngobeni and the local police had been enlisted to assist in the smooth-running of the day of prayer and charity.
The outdoor prayers were scheduled to take place on the corner of Khota Street and Mile Street in the township in Bela-Bela.
