The SAPS in Modimolle expressed pride in Hoërskool Nylstroom Grade 9 learner Janique Erasmus after being named second best junior commander from across the Limpopo.

The 15-year-old Erasmus took part in a crime-prevention debate recently, on the occasion of the selection of the 2018 Junior Commissioners on 25 June at the University of Limpopo.

The learner competed against counterparts from 12 clusters.

He said Erasmus did not just go and represent Modimolle but emerged victorious and made the town proud.

Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Jan Scheepers, in partnership with the Department of Education, facilitated the initiative.

The debate was open to learners from Grades 9 and 10.

The preliminary stages of the contest started at cluster level.
