Police investigations have led to the successful conviction of what they believe to be a serial offender.
Bela-Bela’s Kagiso George Madito was on Monday 24 June sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment for the theft of power supply cables in the township.
Acting Bela-Bela police station commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Abel Phetla, said the stolen cables affected several households who braved the chilly winter without electricity.
The police traced the cables hidden on top of Madito’s home.
Madito was previously given a five-year suspended sentence for the theft of items from tuck shops in the township.
