Ramaphosa laments women and children abuse
President Cyril Ramaphosa described violence against women and children as a great shame to the South African nation.

President Cyril Ramaphosa described violence against women and children as a great shame to the South African nation.
He was speaking on the occasion of the annual 16 Days of Activism for Non-violence Against Women and Children in Lephalale on Monday 25 December.
“We grew up being taught that as men and boys we must respect women and protect children. We were taught to never, ever raise a hand against a woman. But we have lost our way. Our communities are in the grip of violence against those we are supposed to protect,” he said.
The President said the young continue to be attacked, as did even the elderly.
“We have heard the calls by our communities, including the people of Lephalale, for government to do more to end gender-based violence,” he said.
Meanwhile in Bela-Bela, the Department of Transport and Community Safety was set to host their campaign activities on Wednesday 27 November at Sunfa Stadium
Police spokesperson Sergeant Frans Maponya had said that the event would be followed by a door-to-door campaign and a community outreach in the township.
