Eden Christian Academy head leaders announced
Eden Christian Academy, a close-knit educational institution, in Bela-Bela, elected their learner representative council (head leaders) for the year 2024 on Monday 5 February.

The school, with its unique approach to leadership selection, aims to foster a sense of community and ensure that each learner has a fair chance to become a leader.
Unlike larger schools, Eden Christian Academy opts to choose its head leaders at the beginning of the year. This strategic decision allows learners to familiarize themselves with one another before selecting their leaders. The school takes pride in providing an inclusive platform, especially for new learners who join at the start of the academic year. This approach ensures that every student, regardless of their tenure at the school, has an equal opportunity to stand for a leadership position.
The elected head leaders for the academic year 2024 are Mpho Pesha (Head Boy), Kylie Captain-Hastibeer (Head Girl), Khumo Lekalakala (Deputy Head Boy), and Monicah Omed (Deputy Head Girl).
Kylie Captain-Hastibeer, a Gr 11 learner, assumes the crucial role of head girl. Her leadership journey at Eden Christian Academy showcases the school’s commitment to recognizing potential leaders irrespective of their grades. This year, the absence of Gr 12 learners in the school has paved the way for emerging leaders from lower grades.
The diverse representation among the head leaders reflects Eden Christian Academy’s commitment to inclusivity. The leadership team comprises students from different grades, offering a mix of experience and fresh perspectives. Monicah Omed, a Gr 9 learner, represents the younger cohort, while Mpho Pesha and Khumo Lekalakala, in Gr 11 and 10 respectively, contribute their unique perspectives to the leadership dynamic.
The newly elected head leaders for 2024, are poised to contribute to the school’s growth and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment throughout the academic year.
