Students receive help to pay study fees

Seventeen students from the Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality can, thanks to financial assistance, work towards a bright future.

The mayor of the municipality, Sechele Sebolai reached out to the company MaxProf, which provides tax optimization services to the municipality, to assist the students with their registration fees.

Many students who have been able to obtain bursaries, struggle when the bursaries make late payments and they then lose their spots at tertiary institutions because they can’t afford to pay registration fees. Lekgau Consulting and Activa Valuation Services also stepped in to sponsor some of the students.

According to MaxProf, the company allocates 1% of their profits to reinvest in the communities they operate in. In Modimolle they covered registration fees to a total of R77,000. Given that only 10% of youth in the municipality pursue tertiary education, partnerships like this aim to increase that statistic and have a meaningful impact on society, Sebolai said.
