The Bela-Bela Soccer Academy FC has cried foul over aspects of the team’s loss to Spa Park Sporting FC during the recent Mayor’s Cup off-season contest.

The Bela-Bela Local Football Association (LFA) was expected to announce the outcome of deliberations, to determine if Spa Park Sporting FC fielded an ineligible player, or not, druing the
match-up between the two sides, played last Sunday 30 June.
Spa Park Sporting FC won the match 2-1, becoming overnight giant killers against the high-flying academy youngsters.
Bela-Bela Soccer Academy FC technical staff member, Sam Modise, said Spa Park Sporting FC might have fallen foul of the rules of the South African Football Association (Safa).
He said clause 10.7 of the rules stipulated that no player should play or register for two teams at the same time.
Modise further alleged that Spa Park Sporting FC had on the day of the disputed match fielded striker, Donnie Alberts, who was allegedly officially registered with Waterberg SAB Regional
League campaigners, Diesel ‘n Dust FC.
“As the academy we feel the rules were not observed to the letter,” Modise said.
Bela-Bela LFA manager, Andrew Mafafo, said they were expecting to sit down with both teams and discuss the way forward.
He acknowledged that the rules did not allow any player registered in the SAB to play for the LFA team.
The final of the competition will be played on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 July, at a yet to be decided venue.
