Waterberg SAB Regional League team PJ Stars FC of Mokopane emerged winners of the regional Nedbank Cup tournament at the Ephraim Mogale Stadium, on Saturday 13 October.

PJ Stars FC outshone Qualitho FC 7-6 on penalties, after the match ended at 0-all at the end of regulation time.

The Mokopane-based team then went on to beat Palala Giant Killers FC 5-4 on penalties, following a hard- fought 2-all stalemate at regulation time.

The PJ Stars FC lads booked themselves a place to represent the Waterberg region at the provincial play-offs, which would take place on a yet-to-be-decided date and venue.

Soccer lovers in the region had no choice but to grant their unqualified support to Mokopane PJ Stars to go all the way to the last 32 stages of the multi-million rand Nedbank Cup.

The all-embracing Nedbank Cup is the only tournament in the country which opens up opportunities for soccer teams in the lower ranks to showcase what they are made off.

The previously-unknown Baroka FC rose to national prominence after upsetting Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows during a previous edition of the Nedbank Cup.
