The team manager at Solomon Mahlangu High School in Modimolle, Busta Mametse, said the under-15 soccer squad had learnt valuable lessons after being bundled out of the provincial leg of the Copa Coca-Cola Cup.

Solomon Mahlangu High School came out fourth from the round-robin tournament played at Polokwane’s Northern Academy last Friday 9 August.

The Modimolle boys represented the Waterberg district at the tournament, on a technicality after original winners Bela-Bela High School was kicked out for fielding ineligible players.

Credit must go to Solomon Mahlangu High School ‘though, who managed a 2-1 win over Mahlarutse High School, following a long journey from Modimolle on the same day of the tournament’s kick-off.

The boys lost 3-1 to the ultimate champions, Northern Academy.

Solomon Mahlanhu High School again went down 2-1 to Mthume Secondary School and 5-0 to Benny’s Sports Academy.

Mametse said the Copa Coca-Cola Cup outing was a good experience for the boys.

He worked with coaches, Fortune Nkosi and Ben Gosogoso.
