Bushveld Interhigh: Pule was the man to beat

The young Pule Sebolao brought pride and joy to Hoërskool Warmbad on Saturday, 24 February, at the 60th Bosveld Interhoër athletics meeting hosted by Hoërskool Hans Strijdom in Mookgophong.

This talented U. 19 sprinter set a new record for the 110 m hurdles event with an impressive time of 13:49 s and he matched the previous record of 54,10 s in the 400 m race of his age group. He won a gold medal in his third event, the long jump.

Pule paid homage to his late coach, Van Reenen Cloete, and said that Van laid a solid foundation in his athletics training. He expressed his pride and disbelief in breaking a record, stating,

“It was overwhelming and exciting. I have to thank my current coach, Thinus van der Heever who took over from Van and motivated the athletes to carry on training and for his input to perform at my level best. I must thank my parents for their unwavering support.”
