A mixed bag of local entertainers compete for viewers votes

The public will be spoiled for choice when voting for the winners of the inaugural viewers choice awards – veteran, newcomer, abstract, sublime and high culture artists are lumped together.

Warren Masemola is up against Sello Maake Ka-Ncube. Vatiswa Ndara will slog it out against Thandeka Dawn King and Lorcia Cooper. Black Coffee battling it out with DJ Zinhle and Tira.

These are some of the stars the South African public have an opportunity to vote for in the run-up to the inaugural Mzanzi Viewers Choice Awards taking place on the 26 of August 2017.

Besides the thespians and DJs, viewers will also have an opportunity to vote for favourite music category where artists such as AKA, Kwesta and Cassper Nyovest are nominated.

The local comedy scene is also getting a piece of the action with Celeste Ntuli, Tumi Morake and Mashabela Galane all competing in the favourite comedian category.

Amanda Black, Zamani Mbatha, Michelle Mosalakae, Jabulani Hadede and Andile Phehlukwayo are pitted against each other in the rising star category.

The song of the year statuette will be hotly contested by Musa ft. Robbie Malinga for ‘Mthande’, Black Motion with their ‘Imali’ hit and Bhizer ft. Busiswa for Gobisiqolo, among others.

Multichoice emphasised the awards will not exclusively be about celebrities and entertainment.

“The ‘Life changer’ category aims to recognise unsung heroes who make a difference in our communities on a daily basis and voting  closes on the 4th of August, 2017,” said Multichoice.
