Fans of the late Princess Diana are sitting on the edge of their seats, waiting for the release of her highly anticipated biopic Spencer.
It was revealed in July that Twilight Saga star Kristen Stewart would play Princess Diana in the drama/historical film, which follows the life of Diana during the 1990s when she decided to separate from Prince Charles amid rumours of him having an affair.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Stewart revealed that she had to do a lot of research on Diana and the life she lived, and in doing so, she noticed that Diana would sometimes contradict herself in interviews.
“There are contradictory materials from the horse’s mouth. She doesn’t always say the same thing in every interview, you know? There was a fickle nature, obviously, to a lot of the facts,” said the Twilight star.
“She is, very sadly and very ironically, one of the most unknowable people in history, when all she wanted was to just be closer to people and just bare herself,” said Stewart.
Talking more about the highly anticipated film, the actress acknowledged there may be people who might feel she did not do any justice to the role of Princess Diana, but she is confident that she has approached and tackled the role in the right way.
“There was something in just absorbing her completely over the last six months leading up to this. I know that I hit some kind of elemental energy. If people have a lot to say about it not being a perfect impression, that’s so okay with me,” expressed the star.
The synopsis of the film reads: “December, 1991: The Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage has long since grown old. Though rumours of affair and divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at Sandringham Estate. There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. This year, things will be a whole lot different.”
The biopic will be released on 5 November 2021, and Stewart will be seen acting alongside Timothy Spall, Jack Farthing, Sean Harris and Sally Hawkins.
