Woman shot dead at Westville pub to be laid to rest on Thursday

Taryn le Roux was described as a beautiful person inside and out, known for her captivating personality, infectious laugh and kindness. Her friend, Michelle Handcock said Le Roux lived life to the fullest and always had a smile on her face.

TARYN le Roux, a 48-year-old woman who was allegedly shot dead by her husband at a pub in Westville, will be laid to rest on Thursday, September 25.

The funeral service will be held at Harvest Church Umhlanga, 1 Wincanton Way.

It is alleged that Le Roux (48) and her husband (63) had an argument before he pulled out a gun and shot her at Waxy O’Connors on September 15.

Westville SAPS communications officer Captain Elizabeth Squires said the shooting followed a domestic matter between Le Roux and her husband. The husband was arrested shortly after the incident at the pub and a case of murder was opened.

Her friend Michelle Handcock, who is still in disbelief, described her friend of 19 years as a beautiful person on the inside and outside.

“She would turn heads wherever she went with her personality, she just attracted people to her and she had the most amazing laugh. She would always go out of her way to help a person.

“She lived life to the fullest. She always had a smile on her face, always looked for the good in person, never had a bad word to say about anyone,” said Handcock, adding that she will miss her friendship, visits, long chats and just everything about her

The husband is currently remanded at Westville prison and is expected to make his second appearance at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, October 1.
