Simunye FC needs your support

Simunye Sporting Development u-13 team had their first Vosloorus Local Football Association (VLFA) league game against Movers FC on Friday, July 27.

Simunye won the game 3-1 at the Vosloorus Ground C 3-1 with goals scored by Shaun Vilakazi (two goals) and Minami Sonwabo (one goal).

Mxolisi ‘CR7’ Mtshali, the coach of Simunye Sporting Development, said the encounter with Movers was supposed to be their second game of the league.

“Earlier on the day we were supposed to play against Volcano FC, but they did not pitch up for the game. As a result, we were awarded three points in keeping with the rules of the association,” said Mtshali.

Simunye has four different divisions – the u-11, u-13, u-15 and the super division.

The ladies soccer team they previously had been dissolved because of lack of financial support.

“They ladies were talented players, but unfortunately some of them fell pregnant. After giving birth it was difficult to adjust to the new situation. They did not have the time to devote time to the needs of the game as they had to take care of their babies. As a result, I ended up giving up on the team,” Mtshali said.

He added: “It is difficult, from a financial point of view, to run all the divisions when you do not have a sponsorship.”

Mtshali was excited about his team’s win on the day, saying his team’s hard work at training was beginning to pay off.

He pleaded with the local business people to support him as he is passionate about the development of football.

“If business people can support these boys, it will be a win-win kind of situation for everyone. Remember if these boys have nothing to do, they may resort to drugs. Once they are high on drugs, they turn to crime like housebreaking and business robbery. We are therefore pleading for sponsorship. I believe this could take these boys away from the dangerous life of crime, and the temptation of experimenting with rugs,” said Mtshali.
