Fake inspectors on the loose

Bogus environmental practices who illegally raid spaza shops under the false pretences to be employees of the City of Ekurhuleni are on the loose, and the Ekurhuleni mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina has condemned the practice and warned the residents to be on the alert.

Masina said his attention had recently been drawn to the fraudulent activities, and about claims that the illegal practices by the bogus practitioners were sanctioned of his council. He said this claim was false.

He said the city’s Environmental Health practitioners would not steal from the residents, and that genuine inspectors employed by the council were issued with identity cards that show the bearer’s details such as photos and the identification number and the office from which the inspectors work.

Residents who are visited by the bogus inspectors can verify the authenticity of the so-called practitioners by calling the city’s Health and Social Development offices:
