
Officers from the Katlehong North Police Station’s Crime Prevention Unit, Katlehong North detectives and sector managers, took to the streets of the Maphanga Section for a number of special operations recently.
During the drug enforcement operations, drugs, firearms and cash were recovered and five suspects arrested.

One suspect was allegedly found in possession of a large quantity of drugs, with a street value of R58 000, a firearm, ammunition and cellphones.
He was arrested on several charges, including possession of drugs.
While other four men, aged between 23 and 34 years old, were arrested for the possession of drugs.
Officers also seized R3 460 in cash during the operations believed to have been used in drug deals.
All of the arrested suspects were taken to the Katlehong’s North Police Station and will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.

Katlehong North SAPS acting station commander Lt Col Nomthandazo Gumbi applauded the commitment shown by the members during the operations.
“A thank you also goes to the community who are working in partnership with the police and are adopting a zero-tolerance approach to drugs in our society,” Gumbi said.
“We believe the use of drugs is a generator of violence and crime and needs to be nipped in the bud.”
