Ekurhuleni Get Fit For Free event attracts karatekas
“Big up to all aerobics clubs in our communities. They are doing a great job by getting the elderly active. It keeps me motivated,” Sibisi said.

The African Full Contact Karate Organisation (AFCKO) participated in the Ekurhuleni Get Fit For Free (EGFF) event that took place at Germiston Lake on February 9.
EGFF is an initiative by the City of Ekurhuleni whereby people of different ages are encouraged to take part in sports or exercise so they can keep fit and free from diseases.
Many people attended the aerobics event hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni in partnership with community-based aerobics clubs.
On the day, people of different sports codes took part in the event.

As an organisation responsible for Mass Sport Participation Programme in the community of Katlehong and the surroundings, AFCKO saw an opportunity to encourage elderly people from their surrounding areas to partake in the event.
Participation in this event was free.
AFCKO founder Thulane Sibisi said his organisation saw an opportunity to support this good initiative.
“I was so impressed to see so many committed sport lovers, including karatekas from different organisations, supporting this event. As part of their efforts to keep the community healthy and fit, our municipality did well in uniting different sport codes to take part in aerobics,” said Sibisi.
This is an annual event of three hours.
Sibisi said AFCKO’s next event is the Full Contact Karate Indaba in Bloemfontein on February 23.
