Community warned not to buy stolen goods

Nine suspects were arrested in Katlehong, last Tuesday, during a stop-and-search operation in the area.

The arrests were made by officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit.

The accused were charged with various offences.

Charges included:

• Attempted murder: 1

• Statutory rape: 1

• Possession of drugs: 1

• Dealing in dagga: 2

• Possession of suspected stolen goods: 4.

Following the arrests, Katlehong SAPS station commander Brig Sammy Thambo warned the community to ensure the goods they are purchasing are not stolen as possession of these goods is a criminal offence.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
