New Katlehong CPF ready to tackle crime
The meeting was held to elect and introduce the new CPF committee to the community.

Acting Katlehong SAPS commander Col Phakama Caza welcomed the newly elected community policing forum (CPF) executive committee during a meeting held at the Katlehong SAPS Barracks Hall on November 22.
The meeting was held to elect and introduce the new CPF committee to the community.
Caza appealed to the community to support the CPF and other crime-fighting agencies.
She then sent a strong message to criminals, saying the police station, in collaboration with the CPF, had a special plan for the festive season.
“We have posted patrollers in different shopping centres to protect shoppers during the festive season.
“We will conduct random roadblocks and operations every three weeks to make criminals aware of our intention to fight crime. We are planning to partner with the CPF, patrollers and the EMPD in making sure that nothing happens in this community,” said Caza.
She added: “Working with this new CPF, we have already launched a campaign against gender-based violence at Mazibuko Hostel. We do not want to exclude hostel residents from the rest of the community.”
Phindile Ntuli, the newly appointed CPF chairperson, said she was more than willing to make a difference in the community.
“I want to prove that women can lead and that what men can do women can do even better,” she said.
She pleaded with the community to be patient, respect the law and not take the law into their own hands.
Ntuli said the new committee under her leadership had a long-term plan, which was to work closely with the police in reducing crime in the township.

“Like Caza said, we are planning to work with the police at roadblocks to fight against crime. We also have programmes and imbizos where we work with the community to allow them to brainstorm and come up ideas to eradicate crime,” Ntuli told Kathorus MAIL.
She also revealed plans to fight against drug abuse and gender-based violence in the township.
“We are going to conduct a schools competition where children will be taught about the dangers of drug abuse, as well as self-respect,” said Ntuli.
