Sakhimonde Cares launches fund-raiser to help local schools
The funds will be used to assist schools with food, sanitary pads, school uniforms and shoes.
Sakhimonde Cares NPO is inviting Kathorus residents to a charity event at Palm Ridge Community Hall on October 9.
The charity event aims to raise funds for schools that cater to children with special needs.
The funds will be used to assist schools with food, sanitary pads, school uniforms and shoes.
Sakhimonde Cares provides help to child-headed families, orphans, disabled and disadvantaged families in Ekurhuleni.
The organisation is set up with three distinctive programmes, one of them is a home-based assistance programme where they provide help upon request to child-headed families, disadvantaged families living with disabled members. With the parcel programme, they send food monthly to families affected by unemployment.
Lastly, the orphanage home programme, which they are still developing, seeks to establish a shelter for orphans and homeless individuals.
The NPO will provide necessary support and training to them until they are back on their feet and stable.
Sakhimonde Cares was founded in 2020 by Nomonde Nsibande and the NPO’s assistant deputy, Analisa Nsibande, secretary Sharon Nsibande, discipline officer Samuel Mofosie, financial officer Nhati Chuake, organiser Lucky Mhlongo and administrator Nthabiseng Mahlanyane.
According to Mhlongo, as a youth group, they want to reach more schools and communities outside Kathorus as well.
“Our main aim is to make a difference in our communities and change lives of the youth around us by giving them hope, love, emotional support, purpose and a better future. We are living in a time where we need each other more than ever before,” said Mhlongo.
He said the event will host well-known artists who will entertain the attendees on the day.
“Purchase your ticket from your local Shoprite or Pick n Pay,” he said.
