The Ekurhuleni serial rapist case has been postponed to October 28 in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court for a formal bail hearing.
The 37-year-old accused made a brief appearance on September 28 and will remain in police custody.
He is facing 61 counts of rape, two counts of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and robbery.
Some of the rape cases date back to 2012, with the most recent case being July 2020.
The police were searching for the suspect for nearly nine years when he was eventually arrested in Barcelona, Etwatwa, on March 17.
In July, the accused abandoned his bail application.
