KALFA Super League returns

Both teams lost a player when they were sent out with red cards after they almost fought during the game.

The Katlehong Local Football Association (KALFA) Super League returned to action with two entertaining games at Somhlolo Sports Ground on February 13.

The kick-off for the first game between Triple S and the newcomers in the league South of Milan was at 13:00.

Triple S got a good start after securing three points from this league encounter. Sthembiso Nkosi scored the only goal for Triple S in the first half, while South of Milan struggled to even the soccer line till the final whistle.

The second clash in the super league between Villa Development FC and FBS saw Villa outplay FBS to a 3-2 victory. Banele Dlamini scored the opener after he dribbled two defenders and placed the ball at the back of the net. Brain ‘Papa’ Ntilane increased the lead from the penalty spot after an FBS defender was fouled for a handball in the 18-yard area.

Stars of Milan and Triple S players battle for top position on the sideline during their first game of the KALFA Super League.

FBS’s Mpho Mosale registered the first goal for his team before the end of the first half.

They levelled up the scoreline when Katlego Matsimela scored an equaliser during the second half.

Both teams lost a player when they were sent out with red cards after they almost fought during the game.

However, Villa did not take it laying down as Excellent Sambo scored the winning goal at the dying minutes of the game.

A Stars of Milan player cautioned with a yellow card.

The physical trainer of Villa FC, Tshepo Sibilwane, said the players are fit enough to play given the results of the game.

“We train twice a day and it shows that the players are mentally fit as well. In the first 15 minutes of the game, we scored two goals, we lost focus a bit when our players were sent out, but we scored the winning goal,” said Sibilwane.

Coach Vusi Kekana of FBS said they were in the game but, unfortunately, the boys lost it at the last minute.

“I feel that fatigue was the problem. We did not train enough and we need to fix a few things at the gym so we can move forward.

“I am proud of the boys as it is their first game. They came back from two goals down and equalised, but we lost concentration.

“We had a lot of chances in the second half, but we could not convert those chances and the strikers were not sharp enough. I saw our mistakes, and that is what we will work on,” said Kekana.
