Post Office assures locals of ‘substantial’ improvements
Post Office has promised that community members will now see a marked improvement on its services following concerns which have since resurfaced.
The National Post Service has assured the community that inconveniences relating to its services will now be a thing of the past.
This follows numerous concerns from residents complaining about the postal service’s functionality, with some claiming to not have received mail for months.
Johan Kruger, spokesperson for the Postal Service, confirmed that Meyersdal Post Office was working without electricity as a result of rental disputes with the landlord.
He told the Alberton RECORD they are currently in negotiations with the landlord.
With some residents from Verwoerdpark and Brackendowns not having received mail for a while now, Kruger said this will now be rectified.
“We switched to new providers for delivery vehicles, which caused problems, but these have been solved and your readers will now see a marked improvement.
“We also launched a project to deliver all mail on hand, which included managerial and administrative staff helping to process mail items. The result was a substantial improvement,” explained Kruger.
As part of their network rationalisation, Kruger said the Post Office merges rented branches with those in company-owned buildings to reduce rental costs.
“Bracken Gardens and Randhart post offices did not merge, but Randhart was merged with Alrode Post Office. Notices were placed outside the Randhart Post Office informing customers that they would be able to do their postal business at the Alrode branch,” he said.
