Internal processes delay demolishing of building
Plans to demolish Alberton CBD’s dilapidated bus terminus building have been delayed amid internal processes.
City of Ekurhuleni’s Executive Mayor Tania Campbell alongside MMC of Transport Planning Alco Ngobese and dignitaries recently visited the dilapidated bus terminus in Alberton during a site visit.
The City of Ekurhuleni promised to have the building demolished by the end of June, but to date, the building is still not yet levelled.
The city encountered a delay due to internal processes to be followed as well as information that was required for the completion of the forms.
The building was initially earmarked to be a licensing drive-through to ease the burden on Alrode Licensing Department but has now become a home for vagrants.
There have also been growing concerns from commuters and requests to demolish the building.
