Gunman arrested at Katlehong
Two high-caliber rifles, a pistol, live ammunition and empty cartridges were seized from a 34-year-old suspect in Katlehong.

Katlehong North police arrested a 35-year-old man for the possession of three unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as attempting to bribe police officers at Katlehong, on the night of November 28.
The firearms were discovered during an operation led by the Katlehong North Crime Prevention members and Crime Intelligence where they found unlicensed two high calibre rifles, a pistol, live ammunition and empty cartridges.
According to the Katlehong North SAPS media liaison officer Sergeant Sibusiso Mazibuko, police managed to apprehend one suspect who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
He said upon further investigations the suspect led them to a house where he kept two high-calibre rifles and ammunition.
“In the process of investigating the suspect wanted to bribe the police with R10 000 that was also handed in as exhibit in the SAP13,” said Mazibuko.
“The police can confirm that these firearms will be sent to ballistic to establish whether the weapons were not used before in the commission of crimes.”
Katlehong North SAPS station commander Colonel Nomthandazo Gumbi thanked all members who were involved in the successful operation and further assured the community that the police will continue to serve them with dignity and pride.
The suspect will appear in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on December 1.
