Stolen vehicle in Alberton recovered in Vosloorus

A tip-off led to the recovery of a stripped vehicle and the arrest of a suspect with a history of vehicle theft and other serious crimes.

A successful operation by the EMPD Intervention Unit has led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle in Alberton and the arrest of a suspect with a long history of criminal involvement.

The suspect was apprehended at a property in Eastfield, Vosloorus, after the vehicle was stripped down in the yard.

At approximately 15:00 on March 14, the EMPD received a tip-off from a reliable source indicating that a vehicle was being stripped at a property located at House No. 16219, Mbuzana Street, Extension 16, Eastfield, Vosloorus.

Upon arrival, officers observed three individuals on the premises, two of whom fled by scaling the wall. The remaining suspect, later identified as the tenant of the property, was apprehended before he could escape.

During the subsequent search of the premises, authorities discovered a white GWM Steed 2024 model vehicle, which had been badly stripped.

The suspect, who remained silent during questioning, claimed that he had the right to remain silent and did not provide any further information. Alongside the stolen vehicle, a significant find was made: 15 channel-jamming devices, which are typically used to block communication signals during crimes.

The vehicle, which had been reported stolen in Alberton, was found with fake licence plates (KM59PKGP), further complicating the criminal activities linked to the suspect.

The vehicle’s original registration number was HC63SRGP, and preliminary investigations revealed that it had been stripped of key parts and components.

The arrested suspect has been previously linked to several other criminal cases, suggesting a well-established pattern of involvement in vehicle theft and related crimes.

His past criminal record includes:

• Possession of presumed stolen motor vehicle (Nigel SAPS, Case 83/02/2025)

• Possession of presumed stolen motor vehicle (Katlehong SAPS, Case 212/9/2023)

• Possession of equipment likely used for house robbery (Brakpan, Case 233/1/2023)

• Possession of 15 channel-jammers, possession of presumed stolen vehicle, and resisting arrest with Vosloorus SAPS.

The suspect’s extensive criminal history, combined with the seizure of the jamming devices and stolen vehicle, highlights the serious nature of his offences.

The EMPD, in collaboration with other role players, including Cartracker Ground Crews, Bullzeye Security Operations, and Vosloorus SAPS, worked swiftly to ensure the recovery of the vehicle and the capture of the suspect.

The investigation continues as police work to determine the full scope of the suspect’s criminal activities, including any potential connections to organised crime.
