Family needs help to find missing family member

The family of Phillip Magubane (52,) kidnapped at his home in the Dukathole informal settlement (Germiston) on June 5, 2023, appeals to people to help them find him.

According to Phillip’s uncle, Joseph Magubane, allegedly, two armed unknown men kidnapped his nephew. They came to his place in Dukathole informal settlement, where he lived with his girlfriend.

“We opened a missing person case at the Germiston Police Station on June 6, 2023, but ever since the kidnapping, my nephew has been missing and has not returned home.

“We have tried looking for him in government mortuaries and hospitals but couldn’t find him. My nephew is about 2.1m tall and dark in complexion. He was wearing a blue Ekurhuleni municipality coat and blue jeans, including a blue and brown T-shirt, when he went missing,” he said.

He said his nephew was employed at the Ekurhuleni municipality parks department, and on the day he went missing, his colleagues came to help them look for him but still couldn’t find him.

“It’s believed my missing nephew is somewhere in Bloemfontein. Phillip is disciplined and a good person. As his family, we didn’t expect he would disappear someday.

“My uncle was a member of ANC’s paramilitary wing, Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK), as well, which disbanded in 1993,” He added.

He mentioned that the issue around his nephew had affected them extensively as a family.

“Even his girlfriend he lived with at Dukathole informal settlement (Germiston) doesn’t know where my nephew is,” he explained.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Phillip Magubane can call his uncle, Joseph Magubane, on 071 711 5268.
