Essential services continue, municipal offices to close for festive season
The CoE ensures essential services will continue over the festive season, but municipal offices will close for the public holidays and the year-end break.
The CoE reminds residents and ratepayers that essential services will remain operational throughout the festive season, ensuring continued provision of utilities like electricity and water.
However, municipal offices will close for the public holidays and the year-end recess, with the first closure on December 16 (a public holiday), followed by a break from Christmas Day, December 25, to New Year’s Day, January 1, 2025.
The offices will reopen on January 2.
Additionally, on Christmas Eve, December 24, municipal offices will close early at 13:00 so staff can enjoy the holiday season.
During this period, residents needing healthcare services are encouraged to visit the city’s Community Healthcare Centres (CHCs) and hospitals, which will continue to operate 24/7 to meet urgent medical needs.
While the closure of municipal offices will not affect essential services like electricity and water supply, residents are urged to note these contact numbers for emergencies or service-related issues:
• Life-threatening emergencies: 011 458 0911, or dial 10177 or 112 on a cellphone.
• Municipal services call centre: 0860 543 000.
Municipal payments
The city also reminds residents to settle their municipal accounts on time.
For a convenient and efficient payment experience, the city encourages residents to use the online payment platform Siyakhokha, available at www.siyakhokha.ekurhuleni.gov.za.

Clinics: Phola Park Community Health Centre, Jabulane Dumane Community Health Centre, Jabulane Dumane Community Health Centre and Ramokonopi Community Health Centre.
