SAPS warns community after 2 bystanders killed in Dawn Park cash-in-transit heist
Major General Anna Sithole urges residents to steer clear of crime scenes and avoid collecting scattered cash following the deadly incident on Barry Marais Road.
Following a cash-in-transit heist incident in Dawn Park wherein two bystanders lost their lives, the Ekurhuleni SAPS District Commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole, cautions the community members to stay-clear of cash-in-transit heist scenes.
Sithole warns community members to avoid rushing to collect money at cash- in-transit heist crime scenes since it’s gravely dangerous.
“During the cash-in-transit heist that happened in the Dawn Park area, along Barry Marais Road, on September 1, two bystanders died during the act of the crime. One of the deceased was shot and killed while the other person was hit by the suspects’ vehicle while it was fleeing the scene.
“People must avoid such crime scenes by all means so that they won’t put their lives at risk,” said Sithole.
She urges residents to move to a safe distance and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
“Our main responsibility as police officers is to keep the community members safe.”
