Ayanda Pre-School invites you to a gala dinner

Margaret Tyobo is a Vosloorus businesswoman who founded APS and AJA because of her passion and love for children.

Get your tuxedos and evening gowns ready for dining because Ayanda Pre-School (APS) invites you to a gala dinner fundraiser and the commemoration of its CEO and founder, Margaret Tyobo (68), at Volsoorus Civic Centre on August 26.

According to the principal of APS, Phindi Sishange, the event aims to raise funds for the expansion of Ayanda Junior Academy (AJA) and to increase awareness about what Tyobo has done for the black child in the informal settlement.

Sishange said they do not expect to make much from the fundraiser, but it would help as a contribution toward what Tyobo wants to archive.

“Tyobo built a preschool and a primary school from her own pocket, so we wanted to do something to help her with the expansion,” said Sishange.

Tyobo is a Vosloorus businesswoman who founded APS and AJA because of her passion and love for children.
She launched APS in 1991 after identifying a gap in the Vosloorus community when she struggled to find a suitable daycare for her son.

According to Tyobo, at the time, she was studying business management at Wits Business School, and her practical’s required her to start a business.

“I decided to start an early development centre that would cater for people of a particular taste, like myself,” said Tyobo.

When APS grew in potential and stature, she sacrificed her investment and sold her car and holiday home to expand her vision.

She used the funds to buy land and built AJA in 2017. However, it started operating in 2018 and enrolled only Grade One learners.

Sishange told Kathorus MAIL that today AJA caters for learners from Grade One to Grade Six and hopes to expand the classroom because of the high demand.

The public can expect live music, comedy and motivational speakers. However, the organisers will confirm the line-up at a later stage.
