Charity Mile gives local charities a much-needed boost

Get ready for the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile at Turffontein Racecourse.

This industry is all about tradition, and in true style the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile (Grade 2) will be hosted at Turffontein Racecourse on November 3, an event that gives back in the best possible way.

This unique race day sees fashionably dressed celebrities, charities and media partners join forces in what must be one of the most exciting events on the Highveld racing calendar and even more so on Johannesburg’s social calendar.

Peermont and Emperors Palace are known for creating exceptional memories and in true racing spirit, the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile only gets better.

The main race will see 16 chosen charities, along with 16 celebrities and media partners formally paired up with 16 horses that are due to “burn the turf” at Turffontein on the first Saturday of November.

It’s all up to the athletes on race day to determine the split of the R1-million to the respective charities.

Turffontein Racecourse will also host the richest race for maidens, sponsored by Prince Albert II, the reigning monarch of Monaco, and several businessmen.

Prince Albert II is no stranger to South Africa’s racetracks as his South African wife, Princess Charlene of Monaco is a frequent guest and major contributor to the glorious industry.

The inaugural 20 horse Monaco Million Maiden Sprint over 1 160m will give owners of a horse that is yet to have a win an opportunity to win a R500 000 first prize, R175 000 second prize or R100 000 third prize, with even the tenth placed horse taking home R10 000.
