Vosloorus softball prayer meeting confirmed

The president of WBSC Africa and Softball South Africa, Mashilo Matsetela, said they support the prayer meeting.

The date for the softball prayer meeting, organised by former Vosloorus players to honour late softball heroes, was confirmed.

According to the coordinator, Zulu Ratswana, the event will take place at the Vosloorus Civic Centre on April 1 from 11:00 until late.

Ratswana said the children of some of the late players appreciate the efforts made to remember their parents, and they have shown great interest in the event.

He said they still need the support of good Samaritans to get all the required items to prepare for the event.

“The estimated budget is R21 000 to cover catering, the lamination of photos, decor, administration and publicity,” he explained.

The president of the World Baseball Softball Confederation Africa and Softball South Africa, Mashilo Matsetela, said the former players’ intentions are good.

He said it is one of the programmes they have to try and honour former softball players and current legends.

“We are moving between provinces and districts. We had a formal event in Soweto in 2021. There is another event in Pretoria around April, and it is in line with our programmes,” said Matsetela.

When asked if they would attend and support the event, Matsetela said they still have to meet with the organisers to arrange suitable dates for everyone because they have several events.

“Once the date is confirmed, we will hammer all the details. That is when we can start talking about our support.”
