The Fiat 500 was born in Turin, Italy 64 years ago

The original Fiat 500 offered mobility and freedom in the 1960s, becoming a veritable social phenomenon and establishing itself as a “love brand”.

With the second generation launched in 2007, the Fiat 500 introduced the concept of coolness and charm to the city car, becoming an icon of Italian fashion and style that conquered the world. An ever-evolving model that has inspired artists and musicians over the past 13 years and has always remained current. The range offer six models starting with the Fiat 500 Cult at R219 900 with the top spec Dolcevita Cabriolet costing R324 900. The little car is powered by Fiat’s lively TwinAir two-cylinder engine producing 62kW and 145Nm. Zero to 100km/h comes up in 11 seconds and fuel consumption is rated at 4-litres/100 km. Power is driven to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox or, says Fiat, “its delightful MTA gearbox”. It may be small but is it safe? Fiat claims it to be the safest A-segment car. With seven airbags, daytime running lights, ABS and electronic stability control and hill-hold assist, it would be difficult to argue against that claim. Onboard infotainment systems include the UconnectTM seven-inch HD touchscreen, Bluetooth technology, and voice recognition, Apple CarPlay and Android AutoTM compatibility. Want to know more?
